Created by Xaier G
The Cordyceps Addon transforms Minecraft Bedrock into a post-apocalyptic survival experience centered around a fungal infection spreading across the world. Created by Xaier G, this addon introduces infected creature variants, procedurally generated contaminated structures, and a progression system that forces you to adapt or perish.
If you've ever wanted to play through a Last of Us-style scenario in Minecraft MCPE or Bedrock Edition, this addon makes that possible with real stakes and evolving threats.

What infected creatures spawn and when
The addon uses a time-based spawning system that escalates the difficulty as days pass in your world. Early survival is manageable, but ignoring the progression leads to waves of increasingly dangerous enemies.
On day 1, Runners appear. These are fast, aggressive infected that hunt in groups. By day 7, Stalkers join the infection and bring tactical coordination. Day 14 marks the arrival of Clickers, which are slow but deadly and respond to sound. After day 60, Patroller Bloaters spawn as heavyweight tanks that deal massive damage and spread spores.
Beyond these core types, you'll encounter Sleep Stalkers that hunt while dormant, the Muted Embryo, Cordyceps Muted variants, Necrocordyceps, and the Rat King boss. Each infected type has distinct behavior and threat level, so knowing which day you're on matters for your survival strategy.

Structures and safe zones in your world
The addon generates entire apocalyptic locations scattered across your Bedrock world. You'll find abandoned cities overrun with infection, flooded sewers, research laboratories, and Cordyceps nests that serve as spawning grounds for infected creatures.
These locations contain loot, NPCs, and environmental hazards. Cordyceps and Tocón blocks spread throughout structures, inflicting status effects on players who touch them and summoning infected when disturbed. Spore Flowers corrupt surrounding areas and strengthen infected creatures after Cleaner mobs are defeated.
To claim territory and create safe zones, you'll need to use the Anti-Cordyceps Core mechanic. This system lets you craft and deploy Compressed Fungicide Bombs that clear infected from areas and establish temporary sanctuaries where the fungus won't spread.

Health upgrades, weapons, and survival gear
Survival in this addon relies on finding and crafting specific items. A permanent health upgrade system uses pills that boost your maximum health up to 10 levels. Higher-tier pills drop from major bosses, so defeating tougher enemies pays off with tangible stat increases.
Your arsenal includes daggers for melee combat, guns with multiple ammunition types, flamethrowers for area clearing, and molotovs for tactical plays. Vehicles and turrets powered by fuel and batteries provide ranged defense and mobility. Cordyceps-themed tools round out your loadout: adrenaline shots, medicine, and anti-spore filters that let you breathe in contaminated zones.
Cordyceps-themed armor protects against the fungal environment and infected attacks. As you progress and defeat bosses, gear upgrades cascade into your inventory, directly changing how you approach combat and exploration.

Survivor factions and NPC interactions
The world isn't empty. You'll encounter Survivor NPCs representing five distinct factions: Fireflies, FEDRA, WOLF, Scars, and Hunters. Each faction has named characters who offer trades, quests, and interactions that add narrative depth to your survival run.
These NPCs provide resources, information, and sometimes dangerous encounters depending on which factions control which territories. Aligning or conflicting with factions changes how the world responds to your presence.
How to install the Cordyceps addon for Minecraft Bedrock
Before installing, remove any previous versions of the Cordyceps addon from your world. Download both the resource pack and behavior pack files, then rename each file extension to .mcaddon. Import them into Minecraft with one-click installation.
When creating a new world, enable all required experimental features in the world settings. The addon works best with a fresh world rather than an existing save.
Windows PC users face an extra step: manually move the imported resource pack to the development_resource_packs folder in your AppData directory. This is due to texture limitations on Windows Bedrock. Mobile and non-Windows platforms don't require this workaround.
What's new and what's coming
The current version is v12.9 beta, labeled as The Last of Us 2 Update. Xaier G has been developing this addon continuously since April 2022, with major updates documented throughout its history.
The next update, version 1.13, will introduce a Cordyceps cult faction, mega structures like subways and underground prisons, and darkness mechanics that add environmental pressure. If you're planning a long survival run, expect the world to get significantly more dangerous and complex as updates roll out.
